Our story
If you laid out all the words we’ve tapped out over the past 15 or so years, they might just stretch to the moon.
It all started in 2007, when Sara moved her family back to Sydney from the UK – where she had teamed up with copywriting legends Writers Ltd.
She set up a Writers Sydney outpost (in a slightly damp spare bedroom) and started cold calling.
As jobs started flowing in, Sara added more Writers to the collective. She also welcomed Katrina – a pivotal piece of the puzzle to manage the fast-growing number of clients and deadlines.
We’re very proud those on the other end of those first few calls, emails and hard-won referrals are still our clients. Because our story is not just about words, it’s about people – and telling their stories.
2007
The first words
- Sara forms a partnership with Writers Ltd to open an Australian office.
Writers Australia’s first writing gig kicks off, thanks to a helpful referral from Sara’s husband.
2008
Hold the line
- Sara’s first cold call leads to a meeting with Australia Post – still a major client today.
2009
Perfect partners
- Strategic partnerships with specialist creative agencies add to the project variety
2010
The Office
- We move into our first tiny studio, a room above a bookshop in Annandale in Sydney’s inner-west, and add Macquarie Bank to our growing roster of clients.
2011
New digs
- Having outgrown that space quickly, we move to Bridge Rd Stanmore – a converted ginger beer factory – and share Unit 8 with some like-minded creatives.
2012-2015
A growing family
- The business and team continue to grow to three writers and a client services manager.
2017
Hundreds of stories to tell
- With four in-house writers in the team, we work on over 300 different writing projects.
2018
A decade of Writers
- Our favourite clients help us celebrate our 10th birthday – at a bookshop bar, of course.
2020
Aussie owned
- Writing with empathy matters more than ever during the COVID-19 crisis, and we continue to grow. After formally separating from Writers Ltd, we become 100% Australian-owned but continue to have a strong strategic partnership with our UK colleagues.
